OUR HISTORY
The history of Jabones Beltrán dates back to the 1920s, when dozens of soap factories were established in the province of Castellón, Spain. It was the abundance of olive oil and the development of the textile industry that fostered this booming sector. Today Jabones Beltrán is the only family soap manufacturer to have maintained its activity in the province of Castellón, and it is the only family-run factory in Spain to have been producing traditional soap for a whole century. A HISTORY OF SOAP
The research into our company due to our centennial has revealed significant information about the history of soap in Spain: the difficulties faced during the Civil War, conflicts that arose at the start of Franco’s dictatorship, the transformations that the soap-making sector underwent as a result of chemical and technological developments in the 1950s and 1960s, and the launch of ecological soap production at the turn of the twenty-first century.
